What We Do

Ugail Foundation works for the betterment of people with the key people of communities. We believe in the development of minds through knowledge and critical thinking. We believe in enhancing lives through utilization of modern science and technology. In order to achieve our strategic aims, we run awareness programmes, lecture series, mentorship programmes and fund raising events. We work closely with individuals as well as key organisation and our services are particularly geared for the less well-off and often disadvantaged sections of communities.

Our Projects

LynckIt is a free Viber based platform to ease and improve people’s essential shopping experience during the Covid-19 crisis. We hope this platform will help make your shopping for essential items easier and painless. We hope it goes some way in helping to reduce your stresses and anxieties in times of this crisis.

This is a one-year learning programme teaching creativity, coding, robotics, electronics and collaborative problem-solving, thinking and communication skills. As part of this programme, we will also teach kids how to speak fluent English – with a proper English accent – through native English speaking tutors from the UK.

A conference on computer science and artificial intelligence held place in Ukulhas, Alifu Alifu Atoll, in August 2019. This is the first time an event of this nature is hosted in Maldives itself. The AI (The International Workshop in Applied Artificial Intelligence) and SKIMA (International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management and Applications) are on of the international events sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and attended by scientists and researchers of academia and industry around the world.

A series of talk shows were hosted by professor Ugail in Kudahuvadhoo, Dhaalu Atoll, which attracted an audience of more than 1,000 people. These were held in collaboration with Dhaalu Atoll Council, focusing on topics such as critical thinking, artificial intelligence and healthy living. The talk shows were held from 16th to 17th January 2019.

Ugail foundation in collaboration with the Maldives Open Source Society has launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI) program in Maldives. The launching event of the R&D AI Accelerator program was held at the Maldives National University (MNU) in January 2019. At the event, participants generated and filtered ideas to formulated projects which have the potential for tangible outcomes.</p> <p>Project teams were formed during the event to move to the next phase, the six-month incubation program. Each project team will receive a monthly stipend of MVR 20,000, with systematic follow-up during the entire six months between teams, organizers and mentors. Professor Ugail will personally help each project team develop their ideas. At the end of the incubation program, each team will present their project outcomes with a public demonstration and discuss their intended commercial route for the projects.

The Ugail foundation in collaboration with Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll planned to conduct awareness sessions which was held in 18th and 19th of April 2019. There were four different sessions for students, parents, teachers and the general public. The general public talk show was held on 18th of April 2019 and all the other awareness sessions was held on 19th of April 2019.

Our Partners

Ugail foundation was established in 2019 to bring together the people empowerment work and the corporate social responsibility work, for the past 25 years, of Professor Ugail under one entity. The Foundation specifically promotes science, technology, engineering, art and maths (STEAM) across the board especially among the kids and youth of the Maldives through a modern and dynamic curriculum form.
